In a side street, right next to the Volkspark am Weinbergsweg, this restaurant is run by a trio of owners: Björn Swanson, Norman Faust and Sabine Panzer-Faust. In a chic, modern setting with artfully laid tables, the concept is German cuisine "like grandma used to make" – only a little lighter and more refined. What better way to kick off the meal than with a delicious croquette filled with cured smoked pork loin, followed by smoked sprats from Kiel or flambéed turnip with wild garlic and sheep's yoghurt? Or perhaps Königsberger Klopse (meatballs in caper sauce)? The service is friendly and knowledgeable, and expert wine advice is provided. There is a small terrace on the pavement out front.
