In an unremarkable district of Capriate lies one of the most interesting expressions of Chinese cuisine in Lombardy. Do not be misled by the surroundings: once through the door, the atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming and, above all, Mr Zhu Weikun’s cooking is truly accomplished, with an excellent quality-price ratio. The menu is refreshingly concise rather than overwhelming, focusing on a well-judged selection of fragrant dishes that clearly express the flavours and techniques of the great Chinese gastronomic tradition. Desserts, by contrast, follow a decidedly European approach and are not listed on a menu as such: instead, they are presented on a tray, inviting a final choice. Completing the experience is a carefully curated and extensive selection of teas, ideal for accompanying or concluding the meal.
