On the first floor, overlooking the piazza and set within surroundings of distinct historical character with glimpses of the Duomo and the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, chef Valerio Braschi presents a culinary offering that sets recipes of the tradition alongside creations of a more contemporary spirit. The Contaminazioni menu traces a journey through Italian flavours and international influences, with South American and Asian forays conceived to intensify the taste. Worthy of particular note is the calamari salad, lifted by a well-judged chimichurri and tarragon, as is the costoletta alla milanese, reinterpreted with quiet grace in a pleasingly modern reading of the great Milanese classic. The spaces, elegant and formal in equal measure, are completed by the Terrazza Duomo, ideal for an aperitivo or after-dinner drink, with one of the most arresting views of the centre of Milan.
