One of the original Athens luxury boutique hotels, Life Gallery stands not within the busy city center but in the verdant northern suburb of Ekali, close enough to offer access to the capital but removed enough to provide a welcome sense of tranquil seclusion.
Not all of the first wave of boutique hotels look as handsome as this, either, but Life Gallery Athens has kept pace with the times; its current look is minimalist but not stark, and behind that green glass there’s plenty of warmth provided by rich organic materials. Further visual interest is provided by the hotel’s impressive collection of contemporary art, and the 29 rooms and suites benefit from high-end comforts as well.
The hotel caters equally to business and leisure travelers, though the latter will presumably get more use out of the dramatic and photogenic glass-walled swimming pool. And both benefit from the hotel’s restaurant and bar, which provide an on-site alternative to the many dining and drinking options in the surrounding northern suburbs.
