La Docena has been making a name for itself since 2012. Known throughout Mexico for their upscale but far from fussy style, this Guadalajara restaurant has a rustic charm thanks to brick walls and tile floors set with wood tables and chairs. Seafood is the focus here, though there are plenty of other options, and many dishes are kissed by the flames from their live-fire grill. The kitchen shows careful restraint, letting the quality ingredients stand on their own. Start with a plate of oysters, served raw or cooked over the grill, before moving on to tacos like the taco de jaiba with softshell crab over a split yellow and blue corn tortilla. Entrees, including their grilled young octopus with sweet potato chips and an herb mayonnaise, never disappoint.
