Thorsten Bender's creative cuisine certainly explains the popularity of this little restaurant nestled on a quiet residential street. The chef's distinctive style shines through in his technically accomplished, clearly structured dishes, into which he judiciously weaves Asian flavours. The power and intensity of the flavours are as impressive as the degree of finesse and refreshing notes. Top-notch ingredients take centre stage – think Icelandic ikejime char confit in ox marrow fat with roasted leek, leek ash, white Alba truffle and verjus sauce. The upscale interior has a chic, modern feel. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable – the chefs are also on hand to help serve the food. The evening set menu has six courses, plus various optional specials you can opt to add on. A vegetarian version is available by advance booking. At lunchtime, supplements to the four- to six-course set menu are also possible. Their "Midweek Special" – served on Wed, Thu and Sun evenings – comes in the form of a four-course surprise menu.
