More than a bed and breakfast but not quite a hotel, The Yarra styles itself a “boutique inn,” and the label fits: weighing in at a mere four rooms, it’s got all the style of a professionally branded boutique-hotel project, along with the personal touch that only an owner-operated inn can provide.
The interiors are quietly, tastefully chic, weaving together threads of contemporary design and local Shaker tradition. They’re sparse and soothing, but far from blank, and full of character in the form of painstakingly collected artworks and books.
And if a proper restaurant is beyond The Yarra’s ambitions, it certainly doesn’t mean you’ll go hungry. Breakfast is served daily, while light bites are available later in the day, and the Saturday Supper Club brings guests and locals together at the table — reserve in advance, or for a larger party, book a private dinner any night you like.
