Fort Lauderdale’s Pier Sixty-Six has been a local icon since the mid-sixties, and after an extremely thorough renovation it’s back to the height of its powers, combining the retro glamour of the era of its founding with the top-flight comforts of a 21st-century luxury hotel. Its situation, overlooking its own marina along Fort Lauderdale’s inland waterways, is unique, and places the beaches and the best of the city center within easy reach.
Plenty of guests, however, will opt to remain on site for the duration of their stay. It helps that the rooms and suites are spacious and thoroughly well-equipped, and make use of floor-to-ceiling windows to provide far-ranging views. There’s plenty to do here, from the vast Zenova Spa to the correspondingly thoughtful Pier Explorers Kids’ Club. The marina itself is a strength; plenty of guests arrive via yacht, and all manner of excursions are available. And no fewer than 12 restaurants cater to guests’ needs, from a French-inspired breakfast to Pier Top, the revolving 17th-floor cocktail lounge.
