The small Upper Swabian city of Ravensburg, in the Schussental Valley, is full of natural beauty and historical architectural charm. Less obvious is where to find a bit of high-end contemporary hospitality — but within a stately 19th-century building in the heart of the old town is the Kaiserhof, a century-old hotel that’s evolved over the years into a thoroughly modern luxury boutique hotel.
Thus its history remains on display, but not preserved in amber. The Kaiserhof’s rooms are handsome, near-monochrome in their décor, and equipped with high-tech modern comforts as well as timeless ones like French balconies. Meanwhile Hermanns, the restaurant, café and bar, is the hotel’s immediate interface with the city, while Kaisersaal is the fine-dining French establishment.
