The monumental Palladian edifice that is Dumfries House itself is an attraction owned and managed by the King’s Foundation; the Dumfries House Lodge stands on the same 2,000-acre estate, and comprises an old factor’s house and a pair of freestanding cottages, all of them restored in a style that’s true to the property’s 18th-century origins.
