Experience the flavors of Argentina and Uruguay at ALTO, a live-fire restaurant in Studio City led by Juana Castellanos Lagemann and Esteban Klenzi. Both chefs have impressive fine dining resumes, and here they focus on the fire, delivering hearty, comforting dishes with an elevated, modern take. It's all easily shareable, so go ahead and order several for the table. Begin with breads like chipa, a cheesy yuca bread accompanied by tomato butter, or criollo, a buttery layered bread served with herb butter. Hand-cut braised beef and house-made dough stand out in the OG empanada. Proteins, like the applewood-smoked pork chop baked in kombu, lean large. South American wines from their expansive list are the perfect accompaniment, but don't skip dessert, especially the dulce de leche soufflé.
