At the fine dining restaurant of the Maiensäss Hotel Guarda Val, which enjoys an idyllic location, the rustic charm of a 300-year-old cow byre meets sleek contemporary design. Exceedingly tasteful decor also lends warmth to the lovely lofty space, and the team provides friendly and adept service. The kitchen champions regional sourcing, relying almost entirely on Swiss ingredients for the two set menus (one vegetarian) and à la carte options such as "Lago Maggiore pike-perch with verjus and Jerusalem artichoke". Lunch is more streamlined, featuring a three-course set menu and an à la carte selection. Tip: Take an aperitif in the inviting bar on the floor below the restaurant. The terrace, with its magnificent panoramic views, is another highlight.
