A seriously cool concept! The bright and airy architecture of the space, with its floor-to-ceiling glass façade and an open kitchen as its centrepiece, is a draw in itself. Diners are seated at the long counter and watch the chefs in action. The twist: Everything is cooked over an open flame or steamed. The dishes, which are regional and take their cue from the seasons, bear creative names such as "Pearls before Swine", "Kissed by Fire" or "Chef Poisonnier". The pyrography art decorating the menu is a lovely detail. From 5-7pm, you can order à la carte or opt for the set menu "Let it Flow"; from 7pm onwards, only the set menu is served, tailored individually to each table. Choose your own bottle from the walk-in wine cellar, which is another highlight. It is definitely worth taking a moment to browse the farm shop. Wirtshaus Steirereck am POGUSCH along with some quirky, one-of-a-kind accommodation options are also on site.
"We work in the same forward-looking and visionary way here as in the restaurant, sourcing most of our ingredients from our own farm, our own animals and our own vegetables. Here, we cook mainly with steam or over the open fire, which allows us to offer a simple, new and very natural take on each dish, and the whole process is as transparent as our communication!"
