The building has lived several lives: Royal Printing House, Post Office, the Poymar Hotel, and the Albéniz Theatre, before Universal Music Group and Dakia Entertainment Hospitality Group reopened it in 2022 as the first property in the UMusic Hotels brand. The music angle runs through everything without tipping into gimmick: a 900-seat theatre hosts Broadway productions and live concerts, while singers and songwriters rotate through the restaurant at most hours. Rooms are contemporary with marble floors and the occasional unusual layout inherited from the building's bones. The rooftop, with views stretching to the Sierra Oeste mountains, is where Madrid makes most sense.
