5 Rooms
Contemporary Classic & Quiet
Though in technical terms it’s a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel, the experience on offer at Maison à Deux Mains is far more luxurious than what the phrase ordinarily connotes. This 18th-century residence stands at the heart of the Grand Cru town of Aÿ-Champagne, just outside of Èpernay, and was once owned by the local grower Henri Goutorbe.
In its current incarnation it retains much of its historical charm, updated with a healthy dose of contemporary glamour. The five bedrooms are on a level with those found in many a modern luxury hotel; some can be combined to form two-bedroom suites. A locally sourced breakfast is provided, and on nights when the local restaurants are closed, a five-course dinner can be arranged; champagne, naturally, is in plentiful supply.
