27 Rooms
Traditional Elegance & Secluded
In America a Peak Edge Hotel would be some kind of extreme-sports adventure lodge, but here, just outside the Derbyshire market town of Chesterfield it’s something a bit more grown up. The name is a matter-of-fact statement of the hotel’s location, at the edge of the Peak District National Park, and the hotel is a 17th-century public house alongside a contemporary addition (in a pleasingly harmonious antique style).
This addition is home to the hotel’s 27 bedrooms, which combine modern construction and comforts with contemporary-classic country style. Rain showers and separate baths aid in recovering from outdoor recreation, as do the Hypnos memory-foam mattresses. And the centerpiece of the hotel’s social life is the Red Lion Restaurant, serving seasonal farm-to-table fare in a warm and elegant environment.
