Contemporary Classic & Lively
Though it’s been open since the 1980s, the Four Seasons Hotel Austin is arguably more relevant than it’s ever been. Austin is, after all, the state capital — but it’s also the tech capital of Texas, and these days the Four Seasons is as likely to host investors and entrepreneurs as it is government officials. And it certainly doesn’t hurt that, like so many of the brand’s hotels, this Four Seasons has seen an update that leaves it looking more stylish than most luxury hotels of its stature.

Its rooms and suites are handsome, combining mid-century modern cool with Texan touches like leather furniture and subtly Western-themed artworks. The setting, alongside Lady Bird Lake, makes for a surprisingly tranquil, resort-like atmosphere — even though Austin’s many live music venues lie just a few blocks in the other direction. And while that means there’s no end of bars and restaurants within easy reach, the hotel offers plenty of reasons to stay in, including a Latin-influenced restaurant, a second-floor terrace bar, and one of the finest spas in town.
