The First Musica

Lungotevere dei Mellini 27, Rome, Italy
Prati
24 Rooms
Modern Design & Quiet
Riverside hotels are rare in Rome, but The First Musica stands on the right bank of the Tiber, in Prati, a district curiously underserved by Roman hoteliers. It’s sister to The First Arte, the visual arts–focused luxury boutique hotel across the river; The First Musica, as you might guess, is a tribute to the art of music, with each room and suite dedicated to a different composer or performer.

It’s also a living example of the art of hospitality; architects Studio Marincola transformed this handsome mid-20th-century palazzo into a bastion of contemporary-luxe elegance; it’s as much a feast for fans of high-end modern Italian design as for music aficionados. With just 24 rooms and suites it maintains a discreet and private atmosphere, with service that’s both professional and personal.

Alto, the restaurant, takes up three floors at the top of the hotel, including an open-air rooftop space with direct views over the river.
