Dietmar and Nicole Sawyere have moved on from Dallenwil, where they enjoyed great success with two restaurants at Gasthaus zum Kreuz. Since December 2025, the dedicated couple, along with their daughter and son and the Dallenwil team, have been running this compact restaurant in the charming Hotel Welschen. The cuisine, rooted in classical traditions and inspired by the seasons, is presented as a five-course menu, with optional dishes to add on or swap in. A fine example of the bold and technically precise cooking is the tender Alpine Angus beef served with aromatic white asparagus tips and a freshly whipped béarnaise sauce enhanced with pine nuts and wild garlic. Well-matched wine recommendations come courtesy of the charming and attentive proprietress. Large windows in the tasteful, upscale modern interior overlook the village and mountains, and there is a lovely terrace facing the Matterhorn. Welschen Bar & Stübli is an alternative dining option on the premises.
