Ganis Resort
Schwarzenbach 22, Deutschnofen, Italy
52 Rooms
Contemporary Classic & Quiet
You might be forgiven for thinking this was somewhere other than Italy. Here, near Bolzano, where the place names are in German and the architecture is pure Alpine, is where you’ll find Ganis Resort — again, not the most stereotypically Italian name you could think of. It’s enough to make other countries a bit jealous of Italy: from sun-bleached Sicily to snowy Schwarzenbach, they’ve got it all.
Ganis Resort also differs in its design. This is not your classic Tyrolean inn or rustic Alpine chalet. The sleek façade hides clean-lined contemporary rooms and suites dressed in natural materials and surrounded by spectacular Dolomites views from the huge windows and spacious balconies.
As a wellness resort the spa is comprehensive, with facilities that include an indoor and outdoor infinity pool, a gym, a steam room, an adults-only “sauna house” for relaxing with a view of the Rosengarten mountains and personalized massage treatments. The three restaurants serve up a mix of light and seasonal dishes which complement the hotel’s healthy lifestyle concept, as well as homemade pasta, Mediterranean cuisine, and at highest beer garden in the Dolomites, dumplings are served with locally brewed pints. Like any mountain resort Ganis Resort is probably at its best during ski season — but just try telling that to the hikers and the mountain bikers.
