Traditional Elegance & Lively
It’s no coincidence that Field & Stream Bozeman shares its name with a famous outdoor magazine — this is in fact the first step into hospitality for the venerable publishing brand, whose expertise, perhaps unsurprisingly, results in a remarkably complete outdoor-lodge experience. The location is an excellent one not only for fishing, hiking and other summertime pursuits, but for ski season as well, with easy access to Bridger Bowl and Big Sky; Yellowstone National Park lies a little further to the south.

The lodge itself isn’t shy about its retro inspiration, from its rough-hewn timber furniture to its hunting-lodge décor and its mid-century graphic sensibility. But it’s also learned the lessons taught by the boutique-hotel boom of the turn of the 21st century: visual style and tactile comfort go effortlessly hand in hand, and a variety of room types cater to everyone from low-maintenance solo travelers to family groups. Nor are food and drink neglected: Dry Fly Saloon is a classic Montana-style restaurant and bar, while The Honey Hole is a proper Western bar and gaming room, complete with a pool table and a dart board.
