The Park Hyatt Tokyo has been famous for quite some time. Even before its star turn in 2003’s Lost in Translation it was well known as one of the first proper luxury hotels to truly embrace contemporary design. But after a few decades, this modern classic was simply a classic, and it was time for a renewal. Which is where the Paris-based Studio Jouin Manku’s 2025 renovation comes in. To put it simply: the renewed Park Hyatt Tokyo is once again definitively at the top of the modern luxury-hotel game.
As before, it’s also literally at the top of the 52-story Shinjuku Park Tower, a position that lends it extraordinary views of Tokyo even as it insulates guests from the daily life of this busy city. The new look sacrifices none of the original’s tasteful subtlety, and the details still reward close attention, from the in-room artworks to the modern-classic design pieces that furnish the bedrooms and public spaces alike.
The accommodations themselves are typically faultless, as is the service, and the atmosphere remains perfectly private and discreet. Still present is the hotel’s expansive Club On The Park wellness facility, as are the well-loved (though quietly refreshed) New York Grill and neighboring New York Bar; they’re joined by Girandole by Alain Ducasse and Kozue, a stunning Japanese restaurant with direct views of Mt. Fuji.
