Nearly everything about this singular experience is theatrical, from booking, paid for in advance like tickets, to the immersive meal itself, which includes custom set design. Arrive on time for the start of the show, whose inspiration changes seasonally. Take, for example, an Alice in Wonderland-themed “Mad Tea Party” that begins in a hedge, where tea sandwiches are served as canapés, before proceeding to a meal full of visual tricks and surprising twists. Fortunately, it’s not all song and dance: the cooking is visually compelling, flavorful and never dull. Service is engaging, if not quite seamless, but those with a sense of whimsy are sure to have fun. The meal shifts between rooms in the expansive space — cocktails at Bar Orso are an optional finale.
