Updated on 16 March 2026

A memorable meal is shaped not only by what is on the plate, but also by the space, the pacing and the company it brings together. In evaluating restaurants, MICHELIN Inspectors look beyond cuisine to consider design, views and ambience — all essential elements in creating a dining experience worth savoring.

Among the restaurants featured in The MICHELIN Guide in Seoul and Busan, these selections stand out for their especially romantic atmospheres. Each offers refined cuisine and thoughtful wine selections paired with settings well suited to intimate celebrations and memorable evenings.

L'Amant Secret
26F L'Escape Hotel, 67 Toegye-ro, Jung-gu, 04529 Seoul
₩₩₩₩ · Contemporary

L’Amant Secret whispers romance even in its name, meaning “secret lover” in French. Diners step into an enchanted escape even before entering the One-MICHELIN-Starred restaurant, as it is tucked inside L’Escape Hotel, a thematic boutique property inspired by the opulence of Belle Époque Paris.

Inside, plush red velvet chairs, evocative wall art and soft ambient lighting — accented with floral touches — create a cozy, Parisian-style setting well suited to Valentine’s Day dinners and other special occasions. The menu centers on Western cuisine interpreted through a distinctly Korean lens. Chef Son Jong-won combines familiar European techniques with local sensibilities and ingredients for a refined dining experience.

Bicena
81F, Lotte World Tower, 300 Olympic-ro, Songpa-gu, 05551 Seoul
₩₩₩ · Korean

With soaring ceilings and cloud-motif chandeliers, Bicena completes the sensation of dining in the sky on the 81st floor of the 101-story Lotte World Tower, the world’s fifth-tallest building. Located inside SIGNIEL Seoul — one of only two Two-MICHELIN-Key hotels in Korea — the One-MICHELIN-Starred restaurant offers uninterrupted city views that are striking by day and especially magical after dark.

Tables for two are positioned so that both diners can face the windows. Generous spacing between seats makes Bicena particularly well suited to romantic occasions. The experience is further elevated by elegant Kwangjuyo porcelain and a thoughtfully curated wine list. In the kitchen, Chef Jun Kwangsik presents Korean cuisine through a contemporary fine-dining lens, with meticulously composed dishes that refine traditional flavors using premium seasonal ingredients and precise technique.

Eatanic Garden
36F, Josun Palace Hotel, 231 Teheran-ro, Gangnam-gu, 06142 Seoul
₩₩₩₩ · Korean Contemporary

As its name suggests, Eatanic Garden evokes the feeling of a serene urban garden suspended above the city. Located on the 36th floor of Josun Palace Hotel, a Luxury Collection Hotel, Seoul, the most sought-after seats are the two-seat sofas positioned directly against the windows. Couples dine side by side while taking in expansive views of Seoul’s skyline — an arrangement that heightens both privacy and intimacy.

Another One-MICHELIN-Starred restaurant by Chef Son Jong-won, Eatanic Garden reinterprets traditional Korean dishes with modern technique and creativity, resulting in refined plates that balance innovation with a deep respect for familiar flavors.

Palate
3F, 154 Dalmaji-gil 65 beon-gil, Haeundae-gu, 48576 Busan
₩₩ · Contemporary

Perched atop Dalmaji Hill overlooking Busan's Haeundae Beach, Palate enjoys a privileged setting amid a cluster of art galleries, cafés and restaurants. By day, sweeping ocean views shimmer in shifting shades of blue; at dusk, the sunset unfolds across the horizon. With only a handful of tables and generous spacing between them, the dining room feels calm and unhurried, while the open kitchen allows guests to follow the culinary process.

In the kitchen, Chef Kim Jae-hoon applies French techniques to the freshest produce sourced from nearby Busan markets, from local seafood to foraged mountain herbs for signatures such as kelp butter. Thoughtfully designed wine pairings — available in both lighter and more generous formats — further enhance the experience.

Mingles
2F, 19 Dosan-daero 67-gil, Gangnam-gu, 06016 Seoul
₩₩₩₩ · Korean

Korea’s only Three-MICHELIN-Star restaurant, Mingles offers a calm, understated atmosphere defined by warm wood tones and generous spacing between tables. Rare for the heart of Gangnam, the dining room looks out onto a hanok (Korean traditional house) rooftop and greenery, lending the space a quiet sense of retreat that feels especially suited to meaningful occasions.

The restaurant’s elegant minimalism is mirrored on the plate. Chef Kang Mingoo favors layered, nuanced flavors over overt showmanship, presenting a refined dialogue between tradition and modernity. From Korean dishes built around fermented jang to delicately executed, French-inspired desserts, each course reflects thoughtful craftsmanship.
