The MICHELIN Guide is thrilled to announce that, in 2026, Jalisco, Puebla, and Yucatán will be added to its Mexican selection. Since its launch in the country in 2024, the publication has been dedicated to recognizing the exceptional talent and diversity of the culinary scene, and this expansion further cements Mexico’s status as a global gastronomic destination.
“We are incredibly excited to see the innovation and creativity within Mexican cuisine continue to thrive, and the addition of Jalisco, Puebla and Yucatán reflects our ongoing commitment to highlighting outstanding culinary offerings from across the country,” says Gwendal Poullennec, International Director of The MICHELIN Guide.
With their unique flavors and rich cultural heritage, the three states will join The MICHELIN Guide Mexico alongside Mexico City, Oaxaca, Baja California, Baja California Sur, Quintana Roo and Nuevo León. Jalisco is renowned for its vibrant culinary traditions, blending indigenous and Spanish influences. Puebla celebrates a rich legacy of layered flavors and techniques shaped by both colonial and indigenous cultures. Yucatán draws on Mayan and colonial influences, highlighting its distinctive approach to local ingredients and culinary innovation.
According to Ignacio Alarcón, National President of CANIRAC (Cámara Nacional de la Industria de Restaurantes y Alimentos Condimentados), partner of the Guide in Mexico, "The presence of The MICHELIN Guide in a destination generates benefits that go far beyond recognition for a restaurant. It serves as a tourism catalyst: millions of travelers worldwide rely on it to decide where to go and how to spend. It transforms the local offering, builds brand value and positions Puebla, Yucatán and Jalisco on the international stage, attracting travelers seeking world-class dining experiences. At CANIRAC, we will continue fulfilling our role in bridging efforts between the private sector, state governments and international institutions to ensure Mexican gastronomy claims the place it deserves on the global map."
Alongside its restaurant selection, The MICHELIN Guide also highlights a curated list of hotels across Mexico and around the world. The MICHELIN Keys, introduced in 2024, are awarded to the most outstanding hotels in the Guide and are celebrated in the same way that the world’s best restaurants are recognized with Stars. All hotels are evaluated by anonymous inspectors based on design, architecture, service and character.
