Siri Sala began with a glimpse from a longtail boat six years ago: three tilting wooden structures where the Chao Phraya branches into Bangkok Noi canal. Thai-Filipino couple Kirati Thepsoparn and Irma Go tracked down the property, discovering it had been inhabited by the same family since King Rama VI's reign. Five years of restoration transformed the trio of traditional ruean into a whitewashed villa with five bedrooms, a jazz bar with crystal chandeliers built from the oldest structure's salvaged timber, and interiors using inherited relics: earthenware jars as scoop showers, vintage cabinets as bookshelves. The White Lotus cast stayed here during filming; monks still pass each morning collecting alms.
