Reykjavík has been cool for a long time, but it took a while for a full-on, large-scale nightlife-and-design boutique hotel to arrive in town. In the Reykjavík EDITION, designers Roman and Williams adapt the brand’s mid-century modernist aesthetic to its Nordic setting, adding blond wood and local art and crafts to the guest rooms; the public spaces are stylishly cosmopolitan, with the subtlest references to Icelandic tradition. Tides, the Michelin restaurant, celebrates the Icelandic culinary tradition, while a pair of swanky bars provide space for guests and locals to mingle.
