Una stella : una cucina di grande qualità
This cosy little restaurant surrounded by historical buildings occupies a corner plot in Hanover's Oststadt. Its modern decor also capitalises on elements of the original architecture. High ceilings and lovely period floorboards meet clean lines, soothing warm hues, candlelight and soft background music to create an inviting atmosphere. In the kitchen, chef-patron Sven Holthaus prepares contemporary dishes based on classic French cuisine, skilfully incorporating Asian accents here and there. The set menu (vegetarian version available) comprises four to six courses and features dishes such as beetroot with cranberry, ponzu, onion, horseradish, cider and tonburi, or skrei with celeriac, grape, lardo, verjus, chard and Champagne beurre blanc. There is also the option to add an extra oyster course. The short wine list is dedicated to German and French labels and includes pairings by the glass, as well alcohol-free alternatives. Gorgeous terrace in front of the building in summer. Tip: Be sure to book.
