One Star: High quality cooking
Hostess Daniela Jaun and chef Pascal Melliger (partners both professionally and privately) put their heart and soul into running this lovely restaurant. The entrance is somewhat hidden, with a steep staircase leading down into the elegant cellar space and its pretty vaulted ceiling. The chef-patron's cooking is modern and precise, showcasing select produce with an impeccable sense of elegance. A prime example is the succulent and flavoursome line-caught sea bass paired with an aromatic classic fish sauce, avocado purée and fried artichokes. You can choose a four-, five- or six-course format of the set menu, and a vegetarian version is also available if you pre-order. Service is provided by a very polite, professional and well-organised team; the chef also helps bring out the dishes and talks you through them. When it comes to wine, you can definitely rely on the recommendations of the charming and dedicated young proprietress. In fine weather, head for the terrace surrounded by the historical houses of the Old Town – it's the perfect spot for a summer aperitif. Be sure to allow yourself plenty of time to fully appreciate this well-rounded culinary experience!
