Three MICHELIN Keys · An extraordinary stay
It’s a miracle that someone would take such great care for a hotel of just 47 rooms. Capella Hanoi was conceived by hospitality designer extraordinaire Bill Bensley as a tribute to the nearby opera house, whose stars used to frequent the lodging that formerly occupied this building. “Thorough” isn’t quite adequate to describe the scale of the renovation; this is a total transformation, and what now stands behind these walls is a hotel that’s as individual as any boutique and as extravagant as any luxury hotel.

The rooms and suites pay tribute to the local opera tradition, especially the Opera Suites; they’re the most luxurious and the most atmospheric of the lodgings, but it’s a difference of degree more than kind, as the rest of the rooms and suites are scarcely less comfortable or memorable. Regale, the spa, is a space that’s as theatrical as it is relaxing, and for such a modestly sized hotel Capella Hanoi features a wealth of dining and drinking options, from the chic Backstage and the swanky Diva’s Lounge to Koki, the award-winning Japanese restaurant.
