This restaurant sits among vineyards and verdant mountains, within the luxurious Six Seven Douro Valley hotel. In this enchanting setting you’ll find Cozinha do Douro, an oasis of refinement where Douro Valley cuisine is showcased through traditional flavours, yet with contemporary touches. With a concept that foregrounds territory, seasonality and regional cooking, chef José Maria Gomes bases his offering on produce from local suppliers and the hotel’s organic kitchen garden. Its concise menu includes appetisers of cured meats and cheeses from the north of the country, starters such as Escabeche de lúcio do rio, river pike escabeche, served on toasted cornbread with green shoots, as well as options called Aconchego and Sustento. For dessert, a trolley is brought out with a few options to choose from. Our suggestion? If it’s available, try the Toucinho do céu, an almond-and-egg convent sweet, a spectacular finale!
