Before the rise of the luxury ski resort, the classic Swiss escape was a “bathing cure” at one of the country’s spring-fed mountain towns. Bad Ragaz is one of these, and the Grand Resort Bad Ragaz is proof that this tradition is alive and well, right down to the ornate bathing hall fed by a natural hot spring.
The original structure dates back to 1868, and much of its antique grandeur remains; additions have been made over the years, however, and today its multiple buildings contain a multiplicity of room styles, from delicately classical to coolly contemporary and even some eye-catchingly modern designs.
