The Art Deco king of the Croisette, the Hôtel Martinez occupies a place of honor along Cannes’s famous oceanfront promenade. Many hotels less secure in their sense of historical importance go overboard on opulence; not so the Martinez, which lets its grand ivory-colored façade and updated neo-Deco interiors speak for themselves.
The latter are the work of Pierre-Yves Rochon, a designer whose work is familiar to patrons of France’s more stylish luxury hotels. The result is a handsome update but not a departure from the original Martinez style, rather a 21st-century reimagining of its first golden age. With over 400 rooms it’s no boutique, but each one is spacious and thoroughly well equipped.
Nor does it end there. Facilities include a beach club, a picturesque pool in the lush gardens, and an expansive spa by Carita. The Martinez is well known for its high standard of service, and among its restaurants is the one-MICHELIN-Star Palme d’Or, named for the highest honor bestowed by the Cannes film festival.
