Perched on the edge of the iconic Côte de Granite Rose, Les Bassans has sat overlooking Trestignel beach since it opened in 1936 as Villa Le Sphinx, one of the first properties to be built on this stretch of Breton coastline. It’s now been renamed and restored as part of the Fontenille Collection, who have given the hotel a brand-new look inspired by the elegance of 1930s Art Deco ocean liners. The sandy shades of the 25 rooms and suites complement the blue sea views, which can be more closely observed using the in-room telescopes, and in the bathrooms, mosaics have been made from locally using the water’s marine sediments.

Restaurant Les Bassans champions local produce and classic Breton dishes, from fresh seafood at its dedicated shellfish bar to favorites such as buckwheat galettes and butter-rich kouign-amann, while Bar des Bassans shakes up seaweed-infused spirits with local citrus fruits. In the spa, marine-based treatments are complemented with time in the steam room, sauna, jacuzzi with sweeping views of the Sept-Îles.
