The chef and owner of Borkonyha Winekitchen, Ákos Sárközi, is a warm and smiling character. This father of three children ("and three dogs !" he interjects) is a local celebrity, the proud holder of an early Michelin star (2014) in Hungary, and a member of the jury of a TV cooking show. Yet he stresses that he owes his success to his team, with whom he has spent ten years of his career.
Borkonyha Winekitchen is a lively, wine-focused restaurant near the Basilica, with over 200 wines on offer, about a quarter of them by the glass. The dishes are skilfully executed and eye-catching, with subtle Hungarian influences ; the cooking is kept simple by choosing top quality ingredients and letting them shine.
