High above the Jeker Valley, Château Neercanne stands out as the Netherlands’ only terraced castle, with formal Baroque gardens and a past that dates back to the 17th century. Built in 1698 by a military governor, the château is carved into a hillside laced with marl caves once used for gatherings and grand events. Today, it is best known for its culinary legacy, home to a Michelin-starred restaurant and a Bib Gourmand bistro, though its newest chapter includes seven elegantly restored suites in the 17th-century lodgment. The setting is dramatic, the history palpable, and the food delectable.
