If you’re visiting Funchal and are keen to eat in a restaurant serving the best the Atlantic has to offer, Ákua is the perfect place! Here, just a few metres from the sea, in the town’s historic quarter, chef Júlio Pereira offers a menu teeming with freshness and strong flavours. Among the starters, designed for sharing, the “fish sausage with barbecue hot dog” and the cod tacos are particular favourites, while for the main, we recommend the braised tuna with razor clam rice, and the “market fish” with tomato “migas” and an onion foam.
